On love and the extramarital status of movies

cute ♥

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love isn’t jealous. It doesn’t sing its own praises. It isn’t arrogant. It isn’t rude. It doesn’t think about itself. It isn’t irritable. It doesn’t keep track of wrongs. It isn’t happy when injustice is done, but it is happy with the truth. Love never stops being patient, never stops believing, never stops hoping, never gives up.

~1 Corinthians 13:4-7, GW~

This verse just popped into my mind suddenly while I was discussing something with a friend (yeah, well, it’s about love and relationship, and its apparent problems~) through private message. I said, “Love isn’t self-seeking” (NIV); that if a person’s doing a favor for his/her beloved, it’s because of unconditional love. Well, if it is REALLY like one. But we can’t judge other’s feelings, whether it’s genuine or not.

no other woman?~

One issue that could come up from this is the sensationalized infidelity themes in our (Filipino) movies and TV dramas nowadays. I think it just started last year. It was a delicate issue to tackle– extramarital affairs and all– but once it was laid naked, people got hooked and accepted them because they say it’s the new norm, or it mirrors real life. Quite true. But, is it? Is it worth the watch? The time? I think gone are the days where films are child-friendly, family-oriented, and instructing or showing good morals.

Films with adult-content– I think it’s just pure romance, not really love. As one character said in an upcoming drama’s trailer, “Romance is easy; true love is not,” so I reckon people seem to settle just for the easier one.

So if we really don’t know what TRUE LOVE is; if we aren’t sure of what it really is, 1 Corinthians 13 definitely tells the TRUTH. Most of all is what God offers to all:

God loved the world this way: He gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. (John 3:16, GW)

Dear friends, we must love each other because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God. The person who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, because God is loveGod has shown us his love by sending his only Son into the world so that we could have life through him10 This is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the payment for our sins. 11 Dear friends, if this is the way God loved us, we must also love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. If we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 We know that we live in him and he lives in us because he has given us his Spirit. (1 John 4:7-13, GW)

the REAL love triangle. Without constraint.

Love never fails… And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:8, 13)

PS. Sabi ko nga sa isa kong status, “Puro AGAWAN nalang ang tema ngayon. Wala bang SOLIAN naman para maiba?” :D
