I guess any sound Christian author or man/woman of God based their quotations or sayings from reading their Bible, and applying it to their lives, thus gaining in their experiences. I believe so, too, that’s why I don’t normally just copy and paste others’ words; I create one for my sake, because from time to time I believe I’m gonna look back to my old self advising those lines to my future self.
And because my mentor told me I should not have ‘copy-paste devotionals.’ One reason for it is because of the intellectual property rights.

Here I am, Oh God
Once again I come
To Your grace I stand
Before You I bow down
I am weak and frail,
foolishness took me;
sins crawled to my being;
succumbed to doubt and fear.
Day after day I ask for hope
but it seems so faint;
so blurred and far away,
